Letrim)   Brief Summary of Eviction In 1906 Diarmuid O'Mahony the tenant farmer of 46 Acres approx at Dromanallig, Ballingeary paid his yearly rent to the LandlordsWage-earner(Therry). No receipt was given.   Therry proved to be a rogue wage-earner and personal the rent was not paid.  Diarmuid O'Mahony sought the translating of the local curate Fr Tim Murphy who well-considered rent should only be paid once.  An eviction was ordered and carried out stealthily early one morning in August. An "Emergency Man" employed by the Landlords Defence Union occupied the property. A prod numbering approximately 150 gathered at the homestead and "encouraged" the emergency man to leave, by midnight he had departed. The prod comprised of locals and students studying Irish at the then newly created Colaiste na Mumhan - two of the students stuff 1916 signatory Tomás MacDonagh and Tomás MacCurtain, murdered in 1920 whilst Lord Mayor of Cork. Diarmuid O'Mahony was reinstated. He was then evicted and flipside "Emergency Man" occupied the holding.  The second eviction was equally unsuccessful. Mr O'Mahony was reinstated.   These events signalled the end of the Landlords Defence Union.  There were no remoter tenant farmer evictions. His descendants are now the vendors. In 1956 Richard Mulcahy (Minister for the Gaeltacht) unveiled a commemorative plaque on the gable of the house. The plaque remains in situ.
